Diaconate Meeting Synopsis – April-June 09

June Diaconate meeting time was used to go over potential leadership training.

Diaconate Meeting Synopsis

May 12, 2009

Scout Hall Sale: Cleo reported that lots of cleaning needs to be done and some old scout equipment is still there.  A clean up day will be set and the Manette Historical Society will be contacted if they are interested in any of the items stored there.

Quarterly Meetings: Based on input from the Quarterly meeting, we will stay with our current quarterly schedule.

Budget and “Other Accounts”: Each Diaconate member that has an “other account” they are responsible for should present a plan of how and when that money will be used.

Fran’s Place finances: Close the “Rental” account.  OCOF pays for the loan, utilities and major damage.  Normal maintenance will come under Facilities.

Designated Gifts: Discussion on how to handle gifts that are designated for a particular project, like the steeple fund, particularly when that project is discontinued.

Decision:  Communicate with the giver at the time of each designated gift, explaining that if adequate funds are not raised for that project within a certain time period, then the designated gift amount will go into the general fund.  Larry will begin keeping track of givers of designated gifts so that in the future we can go back to them if needed.

Facilities: Cleo reported insulation is going in at Fran’s Place. Siding and window replacement on the west wall of the church to begin 5/22 with asbestos removal.  Parking lot will be sealed later in the summer.

Sound System: Rob and Larry will be notified that some money was donated for improvements to the sound system.  Portable sound equipment was purchased using money from the “Family Camp” (rummage sale) fund.
